British singer, song writer and guitarist Lianne La Havas returned to Center Stage in Atlanta tonight. The sold out show follows on the heels of the summer release of Lianne La Havas’ sophomore album Blood. When La Havas performed in Atlanta in 2013 she was at the smaller Loft venue (capacity 605) but tonight over a thousand people filled the Center Stage Theater. Those of us that were fortunate enough to secure tickets were wooed and thrilled by the 26 year old Warner Brothers recording artist.
When I heard Lianne La Havas live for the first time at The Loft, she joked about only have songs from a single album to perform. Tonight’s show had a smooth balance of music from both of her albums. The music on her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough, may be described as an acoustic hybrid of alternative folk and soul. On Blood, Lianne La Havas, put together a complex, multi layered smoldering album that shows the continued growth of her musical talent. What I love most about her music is her crisp and stunning vocals and riveting guitar play on songs like the title track from her debut album. Add in that the voice one hears on her albums is even better live with the energy of the crowd singing and grooving along.
If she is not already part of your LibroMusica (Music Library) she should be!!
