The American Music Awards red carpet provides an opportunity for stars to shine on the red carpet. The 2015 American Music Awards gave us many chances to see artists in all their glory. After a very unscientific survey of pictures from the big night, I came up with my own top 5 list of artists on the red carpet. A great dress is as good a reason as any to add some music new to your Libro Musica or dust off some tracks that you haven’t heard in a while. This red carpet review gave me a chance to do both.
5. Julianne Hough
Julianne Hough is probably best known for her back to back wins on Dancing with the Stars in 2006 and 2007 but, she has a acting and singing career also. Her big screen resume includes roles in the 2011 remake of Footloose and beside Cher and Christina Aguilera in the 2010 movie Burlesque. In 2007 she made her way onto the Billboard Top 100 country charts with her debut single “Will You Dance with Me.” Until this week I hadn’t listened to her music so the walk down the red carpet has expanded her audience by at least one.
4. Demi Lavato
Demi Lavato pulls her musical inspiration from a big name list of singers including Christina Aguilera, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, Gladys Knight, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Billie Holiday, and Billy Gilman during a 2011 interview on Tiger Beat. At 23 Demi Lavato has already had a long entertainment career. This career has taken her from being a regular on Barney & Friends to multiplatinum pop music sensation. Her most recent release Confident was released in October 2015. With the carefree song Cool for the Summer as the initial release Confident also has a few songs with more serious topics. The most touching of which is “Father” which is a song to her deceased father where she explores the stages of grief. This fifth album and her performance at the 2015 American Musica Awards are a looong way from “I love you, you love me…”
3. Jennifer Lopez
“Jenny from the Block,” Jennifer Lopez (J-Lo) is an artist that has seen her career grow, blossom and thrive. From backup singer for New Kids on the Block in 1991 at the American Music Awards to hosting the show this year! She had limited commercial success with recent albums but has enjoyed time as an actress with 42 credits. Her 2014 album A.K.A. had one single “Booty” which reached the top twenty in the United States.
2. Christina Milian
Sometimes a black dress is the best option! Christina Milian was stunning as she made her way before the paparazzi.
In 2001 Christina Milian sang vocals on Ja Rule‘s second album to get her professional start in the music industry. She also sang backing vocals for Jennifer Lopez on “J.Lo” in 2001. Her biggest hit to date is “Dip it Low” from her second studio album, “It’s About Time.” The single reached number 5 and was certified Gold. Most recently we have seen her on TV with her reality show Christina Milian Turned Up, on Dancing With The Stars and as the Social Media Correspondent for The Voice. Her new EP “4U” is available for preorder and is set to be released in December 2015.
