Fernanda Noronha brought her Brazilian flair to Steve’s Live Music. Fernanda is the winner of the 2015 Brazilian International Press Awards for “Best Female Singer Residing in the United States.” She is one of the best Brazilian vocalist and performers in the Atlanta area. Her new EP, Aquela ritmia, was released in December 2015 by Tribo Records. This album features four original songs, and was produced by Khari Simmons Cabral, Darren Benjamin and Julius Speed and is the mixture of what’s best in Brazilian Jazz, combined with a talented group of musicians that highlights the repertoire of beautiful Brazilian compositions.

Sander Pinheiro on guitar and his band back up Fernanda Noronha for her Made In Brazil performance at Steve’s featuring songs from her recent EP release. The live band included Julius Speed on keyboards, Rafael Pereira on drums, and Chocolat Costa on bass. English was conspicuously absent from the song lyrics but wasn’t missed in the least. Brazilian Portuguese reigned successfully on this night where the always-enjoyed Girl From Ipanema was played to an already enthusiastic crowd, dancing in their chairs and on their feet. Especially enjoyed were branzilian funk numbers, and a particular samba piece (“with jazz”) where Fernanda’s sweetly long-held note charmed to no end and added butterflies to our live music high.
