Review: Louis the Child and Icona Pop “Weekend”

The triple platinum Swedish duo Icona Pop returns with a new dance track with Chicago-based production duo Louis The Child (+ remixes).  “Weekend” is song that will have any listener challenged to not rock, sway and get sucked into the rhythm. The chorus comes with “Treating week days like the weekend…”  and makes this a top choice this year’s anthem for weeknight party goes.

“We work hard and play hard, we are constantly jet lagged and we do things at weird times. This song is about our beautiful chaos that we think a lot of people can relate to.” – Icona Pop

Icona Pop came out and hit the music scene by storm in 2012 with their triple platinum hit single, “I Love It ft. Charli XCX.”  Louis The Child has racked up over 50 million streams across streaming platforms.  Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt make up the duo, Icona Pop. The duo consisting of Robby Hauldren and Freddy is Louis the Child.  This foursome comes from different worlds of dance music; one leaning towards classic pop rythms, and the other towards the future-forward underground, but they mix together well on “Weekend.”

“The idea for this song was started on a cruise ship, developed in an airport, and finished with a bunch of friends in the studio. Music is a non-stop lifestyle.” – Louis The Child

“Weekend” is out now on Big Beat Records and is a monumental moment for the two artist groups, as they present their dynamic collaboration to the world. Add “Weekend” to your Libro Musica!
