Summer outdoor concerts with friends and family are one of my favorite things to do. Every month Roswell Riverside Sounds gives me a chance to enjoy a night outside listening to great music beside the Chattahoochee River. This month’s installment of Roswell Riverside sounds brought Ashville Carolina’s The Get Right Band to the stage. The Get Right Band is made up of: Slias on Guitar and Vocals; Jesse Gentry on Bass and Vocals and JC Mears on Drums and Vocals. The band formed it’s early roots when Silas and Jesse were in middle school playing music together. Today, The Get Right Band’s original music is a mix of funk, rock and reggae.

What was your first live music experience? Which venue and which artist(s)?

[JC] Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Fishbone at the PNC arts center in NJ.
[Silas] Bob Dylan in DC is the first one I remember. Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened the show. Great night.
If you could perform with an artist in your music library which would it be?
[Jesse] I would love to do a show with Lettuce! They are great, and there might be an opportunity for a sweet jam session.
[JC] Dr. Dog
[Silas] 311 or The Black Keys
What artist do you wish more people had in their music library?
[Jesse] Jaco Pastorius, but I would say the key is diversity. Spread the love around to many genres and style.
[JC] Rx Bandits
[Silas] Dr. Dog and The Wood Brothers… everyone should know them. To know them is to love them.
