Slightly Stoopid Brings New Brew and Old Tunes to Sweetwater 420 Fest

San Diego rock-reggae group Slightly Stoopid is one of our favorite headliners coming to the Sweetwater 420 Fest. This appearance is part of a series of festival dates featuring the band this spring and summer, with their 11th annual Sounds of Summer tour starting in June.  As part of the festival, SweetWater Brewing Co. and Slightly Stoopid teamed up to develop ”Citra Hash Stoopid Brew,” described as “a Mexican Lager with a light blonde body, orange flavor, and Citra hop hash delivering a big citrus punch”. The citrus is reminiscent of the bands strong island feel and the lager is light like their danceable sound. At the SweetWater Experience Tent you can actually hear the band discuss their process developing this brew, which is of course being poured at the festival.

The groups latest release was 2015’s Meanwhile Back at the Lab so they group will likely play a mixed bag of tracks from across their repertoire including hits from this latest record and hopefully previews of new music.  Meanwhile Back at the Lab was a brassy, low key record with a lot of groove and positive island vibes. The record was true to their sound, balancing real emotion and feel good anthems. Fans were even treated spontaneous thrash punk and jazzy love song features.

Slightly Stoopid has a laid back and danceable sound that has grown up with the band just enough. This group is a mainstay and one of the bands on the Sweetwater 420 Fest lineup that excites us but is not a jam band at all. They have their own sunny take on reggae that is sure to please crowds at the festival.

Sweetwater 420 Fest attendees : Make sure to check out Slightly Stoopid’s set and try a “Citra Hash Stoopid Brew” (or four) !!
