Sasha Vallely is the double guitar playing lead singer and front woman for Sash the Bash. You have seen her on the stage around Atlanta and at music festivals like Sweetwater’s 420 Festival, Music Midtown and the Pabst Blue Ribbon Festival. Her band Sash the Bash plays music with echoes of punk, post-punk, surf rock, and 60s garage rock, with rockabilly/ psychobilly influences. This retro style is interlaced with Sasha’s innovative style and flair on stage.
“Shaman’s Blues” by The Doors is my favorite love song. It’s one of my favorite songs ever, from my favorite band ever. Music like this has has gotten me through some breakups and romances, the line “There will never be another one like you, there will never be another one who can do the things you do” can be painful, liberating and romantic at the same time.
I wrote a song called “Love Spell” which is as it sounds, a call to draw the perfect soulmate to you. It is perfect for all those lonely souls looking for love on Valentines and it’s also kind of mystical and dark, which if you look into the origins of Valentines, it actually has pagan roots and is connected to an ancient Roman fertility rite named Lupercalia which was celebrated on February 15th.
I’m a big romantic at heart and have always tried to enjoy Valentine’s Day, but usually end up being disappointed, I guess we will see what this year brings but I don’t really have any high expectations [laughter].
I’ll have to check in with Sasha to see what wonderful rewards her “Love Spell” reaps for her this year. If you want to catch her performing live in Atlanta, check our her tour schedule to find out where she will be next.
If you haven’t shared you favorite love song and favorite break up song we would love to hear from you. On Valentine’s Day I will pick my favorites from the submissions and give away t-shirts, stickers and tickets to an upcoming show.
