INTERVIEW: Love Songs with Truett

Blend together some rock, blues and funk then mix in gritty vocals with killer guitar licks and riffs and you end up with Truett ‘s unique sound.  With an authentic sound that blends the best of blues, rock and funk Truett has been an regular on the Atlanta music scene for many years and has recently garnered new fans as he has toured around the north, south and Europe.

One of my all time favorite love songs has to be “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.  Growing up my mom listened to all Motown and I remember hearing that song and it painted such a vivid picture of love and what people will do for love. It’s always been one of my favorites.

Ever since I was a kid music has always been one of the biggest parts of my life, there’s a song for every occasion and emotion.  A certain song can come on and it takes you back to a time, place or memory that you’ll never forget. Good or bad, music can comfort you in so many ways.

“Be Mine” off my last EP could be a perfect Valentine’s Day song. It’s about going after what you want and letting that girl know one day you’ll be mine.

Valentines Day has never been a big holiday for me, it’s a bit too commercialized in my opinion. We all need to live and love more every day of the year and don’t get too caught up on what someone is going to get you or do for you on this one specific day

You can hear Truett’s latest single “Fire” on Spotify.  “Fire” is the first single off of his new EP Lies and Lightning which will be released on April 20th.

If you are in Atlanta come on out to the EP release show at Smith’s Olde Bar April 21st.  You can also catch Truett live in concert throughout the South this spring and summer.  See his website for tour dates and locations.

Be sure to check back here at Libro Muscia between now and Valentine’s Day for more music picks from your favorite artists and some of you soon to be favorite artists.  ICYMI got see which Aretha Franklin song Morgan James thinks makes for the perfect breakup song in INTERVIEW: Break Up Songs and Love Songs with Morgan James.

If you haven’t shared you favorite love song and favorite break up song we would love to hear from you.  On Valentine’s Day I will pick my favorites from the submissions and give away t-shirts, stickers and tickets to an upcoming show.
