Road to Roo Semi-Finals at Smith’s Olde Bar – Round I

Imagine taking the same stage that some of the biggest bands in the world have played… Bonnaroo.  Thanks to Miller Lite and Alt 105.7 radio station, tonight four bands have a chance to make this dream come true.  Sixteen bands competed, earlier this year, in the quarter finals with eight bands moving on to the semi-finals  Tonight’s semi-final round of the Road to Roo included Help Computer, Chelsea Shag, Camera Box and Citizen Gold. The other semin-final round included The Howling Tongues, Misty Eyed, Sunny South Blues Band and Kaya’s Embrace.

The Bands

Help Computer describes their music as a marriage of mathematic rhythms, beautiful melodies, and funky grooves.  Their sound is reminiscent of experimental jazz like the Sun Ra Arkestra or their contemporary Zack Sekoff.

Chelsea Shag performs a mix of jazz, blues, R&B, soul, funk, and hip hop.

Camera Box is a blues influenced alternative rock quintet.

Citizen Gold closed out the night with their funky brand of electric soul.

The Winners Are…

The two bands that moved on to the city finals were Chelsea Shag and Camera Box.  Chelsea Shag and Camera Box will move onto the Road to Roo City finals on March 28th  at the Atlanta Sport and Social Club.  From there two bands will move on to the State Finals to represent Atlanta on April 28th at the Atlanta Sport and Social Club.  Doors for each show are at 7PM and the first band hits the stage at 8PM.
